Thanks to our "send a tip" function these spy pictures of the new 2010 Nissan Patrol/ Safari taken in Dubai landed in our mailbox. The Patrol has not traditionally been available in the US but it seems the new one could very well be because of the discontinuation of the similarly-sized Armada and the Infiniti QX56. Looking macho and muscular the Patrol is a direct competitor to the Toyota Land Cruiser and Mitsubishi Pajero LWB.
Although some "softer" touches such as integrated rear LED lights are included, the Patrol is still expected to be a rough and rugged off-roader. Nissan's patented All Mode AWD system is rumoured to be as easy to use as Land Rover's All Terrain system which basically requires the driver to select the prevailing road situation through a knob and just drive. From the interior shots it looks like the Patrol also retains its luxury feel thanks to equipment such as leather seats, climate control, rear-seat entertainment and satellite navigation.
Some speculation says the engine lineup will consist of a 3.0-litre V6 turbo diesel producing 195kW (265hp) and 549Nm (405 ft-lbs) of torque, a 4.0-litre V6 currently used in the Navara and Pathfinder, as well as a 4.8-litre V8 which was developed for the Armada.
